"Its's more than just separating your glass and cardboard. This last week the RMYC's service learning crew has worked on a variety of different projects that have taught us different ways to recycle beyond your three R's. For example, on our first project, we reused ash as fertilizer, we moved trees that wouldn't have survived to places with a higher chance of survival. On the second day we learned how to reduce water waste and how contaminating water affects all beings and ecosystems. On Thursday we helped at a food back where people who had excess food donated to people who were lacking it. We also picked up trash at the marina and found many interesting items like a fishing rod and little girl flip-flops. And on Friday we harvested produce from a community garden that would gone to waste but instead was donated to people in need. The final thing we learned was how to separate trash in beneficial way."
