The Sounds of Nature by: CC Lima Fire Crew

Counting one to ten over and over wondering how many steps to the top. Bouncing from rock to rock, skirting and zigzagging around, the rail fire crew is hiking to work. This hike has been different from the last in that is rated black, up hill, and takes about an hour. Lots of noises can be heard from the crew that range from heavy breathing, different types of music playing, and the occasional few worded sentences. The conversation always is "Are we there yet?" And the response, regardless of our actual position is "Yeah almost." out of cutesy you see. But out of all these noises a series of crunching sounds is the most noticeable. With every step the sound of gravel crushing gets louder until the work site is reached. Is there someone behind us? Turns out it's just my knees cracking under the strain of the med kit and come along. At first the noise scared the crew, but now it comforts us all.
